The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has launched their e-CARD for OFWs last November.
Most OFWs have not yet availed the e-CARD simply because they are still abroad, working hard and are busy supporting their families back home.
So, you want to work abroad? Don’t worry because you’re not the only one hoping to find greener pastures. More and more Filipinos are now going out of the country to work and I’m proud to say I was one of them. But mind you, I’m not where I am now because of luck. I had to go through the eye of the needle, literally, just to land a job in China.
Probably one of the most colorful perks of being an Overseas Filipino Worker is the chance to earn and travel at the same time. Back home, we could hardly afford flights to domestic tourist destinations. If we try, it means saving money for the trip for quite a while – sometimes, it takes years to save the money needed to bring the entire family to an outbound trip.
After many years of working in another country, the opportunity to come teach in Cambodia came about.
Indonesia will always be one of my favourite places on the planet. Not because of their beautiful beaches like Bali nor the extraordinary traffic experience in Jakarta but because it is one of the very few countries that is very accepting to Filipino Overseas Workers.
